Information

Welcome to the world of a lonely psycho called Szysztof Buravczek*, though it is obviously not a real name!

Someone who writes songs in his free time from work and procrastination, and such time is rare. Someone who generates ideas and abandons them for years or forever. Who does not take sides in a conflict, but withdraws from it, believing that both sides wrong. In general, a strange guy. And yet here is something to listen to, and there will be even more, since the work has recently disappeared, leaving only the procrastination. So there is a chance that this site will be updated with information that is much more interesting than this paragraph.

In the meantime, I’ll tell you what I can. If you still have questions, feel free to ask them by mail or on social networks. Perhaps the answers will even be included in an updated version of this article.

Why Szysztof Buravczek?

There was no pseudonym until April 3, 2013. The songs were labeled either with the real name, or with some random nick. The current pseudonym was invented quite spontaneously, however, there is the following logic in it.

The right-hand rule is often called "правило буравчика" in Russian. This phrase is literally translated as "gimlet rule", but is perceived by ear as "Buravchik's rule", as if there was once a scientist surnamed Buravchik who discovered this rule. Therefore, some schoolchildren support the myth of the scientist Buravchik jokingly or seriously and even come up with a name for him. Since the "surname" sounds Polish or Czech, the name is also taken from these languages. One of the most popular Polish male names is Krzysztof. Hence "Krzysztof Burawczyk".

"Krzysztof" became "Szysztof" firstly to avoid confusion with the real Krzysztofs, and secondly to allude the Russian name of the famous though pretty indecent gesture. "Burawczyk" became "Buravczek" to make the surname more Czech-like** (Polish first name, Czech surname, internationalism, why not).

However, confusion could not be avoided. Although at the time when pseudonym was created Google did not find anything similar, a couple of years later, when both the symbolism was created and some kind of recognition was already gained, the search engine began to suggest "Did you mean: Krzysztof Krawczyk". Indeed, the pseudonym looks like a pun on the full name of the famous Polish singer, but this is merely a coincidence.

Symbols

The first symbol to appear shortly after the pseudonym was a gesture combining the fig sign and a demonstration of the right-hand rule (shown with the left hand):

Although the gesture was quite vivid, it had to be abandoned, because Szysztof himself was embarassed to use it in public, as can be seen in this video.

The logo that you see everywhere on this site was published on August 26, 2016, as this VK post implies. It was drawn using turtle graphics, programmed in the educational language Algoid.

While working on the logo, Szysztof experienced pareidolia: he identified a half of the upper part of some face in the logo. This face was drawn in full by mirrorings, and it was animated by changing the program parameters:

For some reason your browser does not want to play the animation. Try to download.

The face is called Szysztoface, and its animation was used in talking-head videos during the songs' playback.

* Pronounced as "Shishtof Buravchek". ^

** Otherwise he would probably have used W instead of V to make the nickname look completely Polish, or Š and Č instead of Sz and Cz respectively to make it look completely Czech. However, such fallacy only complements the protest image. ^
