February 24, 2022 - memories a year later
I booked a studio for February 24, 2022 to record anti-war songs. Naturally, the recording did not take place.
Are anti-war songs appropriate in a country that is defending itself? The most obvious answer is no.
That is exactly how I have been answering since I the time I composed these songs (late 2018 - early 2019, although ideas, of course, had been accumulating before).
When warnings about an imminent invasion rained down from all sides, a strong desire arose to shout into space that no, don’t, no, come to your senses! It is clear that those who make decisions would not have heard or heeded anyway, but if you have something to shout, then do shout...
I was late. Such screams became inappropriate, even stupid, even dangerous once again. In addition, the unfolding events could no longer be fit into the naive concept of Leopold the Cat, with which I came up with those chants. Like, "guys, let's all get along", but what will this getting along be based on? Well, I don't know, I'm just a fool. It's for them to decide, whom I gave my vote in the elections accompanying it with the words "don’t let me down"...
The revision of the concept is still ongoing, there are some achievements, but let's discuss them someday later. After all, we are talking about songs that I wanted to record a year ago, but recorded now. Their list has changed a little, but the theme is the same: anti-war. Without further apology, I'll just leave this here, as they say.
Most likely, based on the results of listening or even just reading this text, you have already succumbed to one of the verbs included in the title. Or maybe even all three. Well, then it’s time to disengage.
There is one such quote about disengagement... But let's discuss it someday later, too.
PS: I’m still working on the WSNEBIAW instrumental album, but, to be honest, with much less devotion than on these songs. There is a lot of confusion and hopelessness in this album. And the material is many times more complex. But I will complete it if I’m alive and well.
